(Africanfootball.com) Former AFC Ajax manager Peter Bosz has tipped African stars Hakim Ziyech and Andre Onana to leave the Eredivisie club at the end of the current season.

Both Onana (Cameroon) and Ziyech (Morocco) have become key players for the Amsterdam club, with the former the number one choice in goal, while the latter is a vital part of their attacking force and even won the Dutch top flight’s player of the month accolade in October.

Onana, 22, has been on Ajax’s books since early 2015 and is contracted to June 2021, while Ziyech, 25, has been at the club since August 2016 and is also contracted to the middle of 2021.

Bosz, who was in charge of Ajax in the 2016/17 season and led the club to the final of the UEFA Europa League, believes Ziyech and Onana, as well as rising stars Matthijs de Ligt and Frenkie de Jong, will not be a part of the Dutch club from next season.

"I see Matthijs de Ligt, Frenkie de Jong and Hakim Ziyech leaving Ajax next summer," he told Voetball International.

He also added that "Andre Onana will possibly go as well" in reference to the former Barcelona goalkeeper.

Ajax teammates Onana and Ziyech were ironically in opposite camps on Friday night as Morocco hosted Cameroon in a 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Casablanca.

Al Ahly director of football and assistant coach Mohamed Youssef has completely refuted claims that striker Walid Azarou could be on his way out of the club in January.

Azarou has been a key player for the Red Devils since his arrival in July 2017. The Morocco international scored 31 goals in 54 games for Al Ahly in all competitions.

Al Ahly were deprived off the 23-year-old striker’s services in the second leg of the CAF Champions League after he was suspended for two games over unsporting behaviour.

“There are no offers for Azarou. The claims about his departure in the upcoming January window or by the end of the season is categorically untrue,” Youssef said.

“Azarou’s contract runs for two years and a half and we want to keep him. He is one of the important players and it’s illogical to let go of the team’s pillars.”

AC Milan have reportedly started to consider joining the race to sign Juventus defender Mehdi Benatia.

The 31-year-old has spent the last three years representing the Italian champions, but the centre-back has been restricted to just five appearances in Serie A and the Champions League this season.

That has allegedly resulted in interest from Manchester United and Arsenal - who could be in the market for a new defender in January - but according to Sport Mediaset, Milan are also monitoring the situation.

Gennaro Gattuso's side require a replacement for the injured Mattia Caldara, and that could see a loan bid made for Morocco international Benatia.

The report suggests that Milan would have to commit to paying a €15m (£13.1m) fee for a permanent transfer at the end of the season.

Benatia has also played for Udinese and Roma in Italy's top flight, while three years were spent contracted to Bayern Munich.

Juventus centre-back Medhi Benatia admits “I’m struggling playing a game every now and then” and “we’ll see what happens” in January.

The Moroccan played 90 minutes against Cagliari on Saturday, but he’s played only four Serie A games so far this season.

“I’m struggling playing a game every now and then,” Benatia told La Stampa.

“Last year I did well because I had more consistency, unfortunately I don’t have it this year. It’s part of my job, and I work to always be ready, but it’s not a pleasant situation.

“It’s normal that I’m not enjoying it, I’m 31 and I want to play as much as possible.

“January? Let’s see what happens, how I’m used, if Juve still need me, if [Coach Max] Allegri wants me…

“I’m available to the team, as long as I’m here I’ll give my all. If I’m needed in the Champions League I’ll be ready.”
